# Shopify B2B in 2026: what the native features cover and when a wholesale app is still needed

*Since 2 April 2026, Shopify's own B2B tools are on the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans, not only Plus: company profiles, up to three market catalogs, volume pricing, quantity rules and net payment terms. Plus keeps unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned to individual companies, deposits and partial payments. Wholesale apps still matter mainly for per-customer pricing below Plus, registration flows and themes or apps that native B2B does not support.*

## Key points

- Since 2 April 2026, Shopify B2B is included on the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans, with up to 3 active market catalogs, company profiles, volume pricing, quantity rules and net payment terms.
- Shopify Plus keeps unlimited catalogs, direct catalog assignment to companies and locations, deposits, partial payments and payment requests per fulfilment.
- Native Shopify net terms are 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 days, plus due on fulfilment, and fixed-date terms on individual draft orders.
- Shopify B2B requires the newer customer accounts and is incompatible with accelerated checkouts, local delivery, pickup points, tipping and subscriptions.
- Below Plus, a wholesale app is mainly worth it for per-customer pricing beyond three market catalogs and for a wholesale registration and approval flow.

## The short answer

Shopify B2B is native on every main plan in 2026. On 2 April 2026 Shopify opened company profiles, up to three active catalogs, volume pricing, quantity rules, net payment terms, vaulted cards and US ACH bank payments to the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans. Unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned directly to a company or company location, deposits, partial payments and payment requests per fulfilment remain on Shopify Plus.

A wholesale app is therefore no longer needed just to show business customers different prices. A wholesale app still earns its place when a store below Plus needs prices that differ per customer rather than per market, wants a wholesale registration and approval form, needs features native B2B does not support, or wants to keep legacy customer accounts.

In this article, a *catalog* is Shopify's object that decides which products a B2B buyer sees and at what price. A *company* is a business customer with one or more *company locations*, each of which can carry its own payment terms and catalogs.

## What native Shopify B2B includes on every plan

Shopify's B2B plan comparison lists the following as available on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus: companies and company locations, location-level permissions, quantity rules, quantity price breaks (volume pricing), net terms, payment reminders, ACH bank payments for US merchants, vaulted credit cards, draft order to invoice, checkout to draft, easy reorders, PO numbers, sales staff permissions, the Trade theme with a quick order list, and Shopify Flow with B2B objects.

**Catalogs below Plus.** On Basic, Grow and Advanced, a store can assign up to 3 active catalogs across all its B2B markets, and the store must use the new Shopify Markets. Shopify states that direct catalog assignment is not available on those plans. In practice, a non-Plus store can price by market or customer segment, not by individual company.

**Payment terms.** Shopify's payment-terms page lists no payment terms, net terms of 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 days counted from the order date, due on fulfilment, and a fixed date that can be set only on individual draft orders. The plan comparison marks net terms as available on every plan.

**Collecting what is due.** Shopify's payment-terms page notes that payments are not captured automatically when terms expire; staff charge a vaulted card from the admin. A Shopify changelog entry of 17 June 2026 adds a Shopify Flow action, *Charge vaulted payment for B2B order*, that charges a vaulted card or debits a vaulted bank account when payment on an order with terms is due. The changelog does not state a plan requirement.

**Themes.** A Shopify changelog entry of 10 December 2025 says Horizon themes are fully compatible with B2B, including volume pricing, quantity rules and quick order lists, without custom development or third-party apps.

## What stays on Shopify Plus

Shopify's April 2026 announcement and the plan comparison agree on the Plus-only list: unlimited catalogs for customer-specific pricing, direct assignment of catalogs to companies and locations, deposit requirements, partial payments and payment requests per fulfilment. Contextual checkout and storefront through Shopify Markets are marked as Plus and Advanced, not Basic or Grow.

The practical line is per-company pricing. A store whose wholesale customers each have their own negotiated price list needs Plus to do that natively, because only Plus can assign a catalog to a single company. A store with a few price tiers can usually fit them into three market catalogs.

## Native B2B limits that apply on every plan

Shopify's B2B considerations page lists constraints a merchant should check before switching on B2B. Legacy customer accounts cannot be used for B2B orders and customers; B2B needs the newer customer accounts. Some third-party apps do not work with B2B, and checkout changes made in checkout.liquid are incompatible.

The same page says accelerated checkouts, local delivery, pickup points, tipping and subscriptions are incompatible with B2B, that B2B orders are limited to 500 line items, and that B2B rates apply only when the order has a B2B customer assigned to a company location. In a blended store (retail and wholesale on one storefront), most other features cannot be limited to one customer type; discounts can be limited to B2B by creating a B2B market and using it in the discount's eligibility.

Shopify does not offer, natively, a public wholesale application form with approval, price lists that vary per customer below Plus, or customer-specific credit limits. Those are the gaps wholesale apps sell into.

## What wholesale apps add

We read three wholesale app listings on the Shopify App Store on 11 October 2026.

**BSS B2B Wholesale Pricing** shows a rating of 4.9 from 1,187 reviews and the Built for Shopify badge. BSS lists custom price lists, customer-specific and tiered pricing, B2B registration with approval and auto-tagging, minimum order values and pack sizes, tax-exempt customers, net payment terms, POS support and, on its top plan, APIs for ERP price sync. It has a free plan and paid tiers with a 14-day trial.

**SparkLayer B2B & Wholesale** shows 4.9 from 388 reviews. SparkLayer's free plan allows up to 3 price lists; paid plans add unlimited price lists, a sales rep portal, and on the highest plan quoting, API access and accounting connections. SparkLayer caps B2B orders per month on each plan, which is a different pricing model from the others.

**Wholesale Gorilla** shows 4.8 from 317 reviews, has no free plan and a 21-day trial. Wholesale Gorilla lists price rules by store, collection, product or variant, customer price groups, quick order forms, wholesale shipping rules, net terms, order limits and product locking.

The overlap with native B2B is now large: volume pricing, quantity rules, net terms and quick order are all native. What the apps still offer that native B2B below Plus does not is per-customer pricing beyond three market catalogs, registration and approval flows, and pricing that works without moving to the newer customer accounts. A merchant evaluating an app in 2026 should first list which needs native B2B already covers on the current plan.

## Where the reports were wrong

**'Price lists are only available on Plus.'** Out of date. Since 2 April 2026, Basic, Grow and Advanced get up to 3 active market catalogs with their own prices. Only direct catalog assignment to a company and unlimited catalogs are Plus-only.

**'Shopify Plus only has fixed Net 15, 30 or 60 terms.'** Wrong twice. Shopify lists net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90, plus due on fulfilment and fixed-date terms on draft orders, and net terms are on every plan, not only Plus.

**'All the leading wholesale apps carry the Built for Shopify badge.'** Not on 11 October 2026: the SparkLayer and Wholesale Gorilla listings did not show the badge; BSS did.

**Stale counts.** One report gave BSS 1,067 reviews, SparkLayer 347 and Wholesale Gorilla 307; the listings showed 1,187, 388 and 317. A review count in any comparison is a snapshot.

**What held up.** The second report's account of the 2 April 2026 change was accurate: three catalogs, company profiles, volume pricing and payment terms on non-Plus plans, with unlimited catalogs, direct assignment, deposits and partial payments kept on Plus. Its June 2026 date for automated vaulted-card charges matches the Flow action in the changelog.

## Method

We started from two AI deep-research reports on Shopify B2B and wholesale pricing apps. We kept only claims we could check on 11 October 2026 at the Shopify Help Center (B2B plan features, catalogs, payment terms, considerations), the Shopify changelog, Shopify's own announcement, and the apps' App Store listings. App figures are quoted from those listings as public facts about third parties.

We dropped what we could not verify: individual merchant review quotes about price errors, the reports' descriptions of how each app injects prices into themes, claims about apps we did not open (Sami, Wholesale Pricing Discount, B2B Wholesale Hub, Discounty, Addify, Bold), the reported B2B Apple Pay support, which conflicts with Shopify's statement that accelerated checkouts are incompatible with B2B, a claim that B2B discounts are now on by default, and all market-size estimates, which rested on assumed adoption rather than data.

## Limitations

Shopify updates its help pages without version numbers; this article describes them as they read on 11 October 2026. We did not set up B2B in a live store, so behaviour in edge cases, such as volume pricing across several catalogs, is as documented, not as tested. We read three app listings, not the whole wholesale category, and a listing is the vendor's own claim. App ratings, review counts and plan contents change often.

## Questions and answers

### Do I need Shopify Plus to use B2B in 2026?

No. Since 2 April 2026, Shopify includes B2B on the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans. Those plans get company profiles, up to 3 active market catalogs, volume pricing, quantity rules, net payment terms and vaulted cards. Plus is still needed for unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned to an individual company, deposits, partial payments and payment requests per fulfilment.

### How many B2B catalogs can a non-Plus Shopify store have?

Up to 3 active catalogs across all its B2B markets on Basic, Grow and Advanced, and the store must use the new Shopify Markets. Catalogs on those plans are assigned through markets; direct assignment to a single company or company location is available only on Shopify Plus, which also allows an unlimited number of catalogs.

### Which payment terms does Shopify B2B support natively?

Shopify lists net terms of 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 days counted from the order date, due on fulfilment, and a fixed calendar date that can be set on individual draft orders. Net terms are available on every plan. Deposits and partial payments are only on Shopify Plus. A Flow action can charge a vaulted card or bank account when payment is due.

### Can I keep legacy customer accounts and use Shopify B2B?

No. Shopify's B2B considerations page states that legacy customer accounts cannot be used for B2B orders and customers, so B2B requires the newer customer accounts. In a blended store, switching affects retail customers as well, so the change should be planned for both groups.

### When is a wholesale app still worth installing on Shopify?

A wholesale app is mainly worth it when a store below Plus needs different prices for many individual customers rather than a few market catalogs, wants a wholesale application form with approval and auto-tagging, or needs a feature native B2B lacks. If three market catalogs, volume pricing and net terms cover the need, native B2B may be enough.
